Birds of the Pori Day

Venue: Toukarin lintutorni·Address: Toukarintie 8·Organiser: Porin Lintutieteellinen Yhdistys PLY ry.

A relaxed outdoor event at the Toukari birdwatching tower and the surrounding area. We’ll be observing the local birdlife and recording our sightings. During the event, you’ll have the chance to ask questions about birds and how to get started in birdwatching, with the help of PLY members.

Please dress for the weather; it’s often chilly up in the tower.

Sheep Market at the Building Preservation Centre Toivo

On Sunday, there’ll be wool and a buzz of activity in the Toivo courtyard! The sheep market, which has already become a tradition, brings together sheep enthusiasts from across the region in the Toivo courtyard. There’ll be a wide range of sheep-related goods on sale, and, of course, the delightful sheep in the yard’s pen.

The Building Preservation Centre Toivo, the houses in the courtyard and the Korsman House are open

The summer exhibition ‘Building with Clay in Satakunta’ showcases the use of unfired clay in construction, as well as the history and techniques of clay construction in Finland, particularly from a Satakunta perspective. In the courtyard, you can try walking on stilts, and there are plenty of activities to enjoy in the playroom. Art from Viikkari is on display in the courtyard gallery for the rest of this weekend.

Porin Päivä films, new programme!

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Rosenlew Museum, we are presenting video footage, some of which has never before been shown in public. The highlights include top-of-the-range products from the metal industry, a light-hearted promotional film about a threshing machine, a slightly more serious annual review of the company, and, as a grand finale, a tour of the original Rosenlew Museum led by the museum’s founder, Olavi Koskinen, a local history councillor.

1. Sampo 40 high-capacity combine harvester: This sales video showcases the Sampo 40 combine harvester, which was manufactured in Pori between 1971 and 1973. Sampo guarantees a good harvest! Duration: 20 mins.
2. Foundry presentation: The Pori engineering workshop and foundry have produced a wide variety of objects and goods over the years. What was being made at the foundry in 1986? Duration: 13 mins.
3. Rosenlew Annual Review 1985–1986: What was 1985 like for the Rosenlew Group, and what were the future prospects according to Magnus Savander, Managing Director of Oy W. Rosenlew Ab? Duration: 16 mins.
4. Olavi Koskinen at the Rosenlew Museum in 1999: What did the company’s private museum look like before the current Rosenlew Museum was established? Duration: 17 mins.

Take home some literary treasures free of charge from the Ark Nature Centre

The lecture room Lumme features a pick-and-choose table, where you’ll find literary treasures that have mainly been removed from the Satakunta Museum’s book collection. The books are free, but quantities are limited. Come and have a rummage!

100 Years of the Pori Bridge: Original bridge drawings on display

Porin Päivä Saturday 26 September 2026 will mark exactly one hundred years since the opening of the Pori Bridge. To mark this anniversary, the Satakunta Museum will be exhibiting original bridge drawings during the Pori Days festival; these were produced for the Pori Bridge design competition in 1924. Among the items on display is the winning entry from the competition, which was, however, never realised.

The bridge drawings are on display next to the Taavi Stage at the Satakunta Museum from Thursday to Sunday, 24–27 September. The Taavi Stage will also be screening the film *Pori’s New Bridge*, which was completed in 1926, the year the bridge was opened.

Pop-up café at the Satakunta Museum

At the weekend, you can enjoy a cup of coffee and take in the beautiful river views at the Satakunta Museum. The pop-up café is organised by the Friends of the Satakunta Museum association. At the same time, you can find out more about the association’s activities and members, and even join up. With over 400 members, the association organises interesting cultural activities in collaboration with the museum, amongst others. Members also enjoy a wide range of museum benefits.

Porin Päivä’s poster and merchandise sales

The joint poster shop run by the Pori-Seura and the Satakunta Museum is open in the museum’s Kamari room. Posters from the years 1984–2026 are on sale. The number of posters varies; for some years there are none at all, for others just a few, and for others hundreds. Old posters cost €5 each and new ones €15 each. Come and discover some treasures!

Also on sale are the club’s overalls badges at €3 each, caps at €25 each, Pori pennants at €65 each, and a special batch of Porin Päivä T-shirts at €22. The design for the 2026 poster and T-shirt was created by Petra Wolff-Santaharju.

Porispere 15 Years – Through the Eyes of Tomi Palsa: Sale of photographs from the exhibition

A walk along Museokuja takes you through the 15-year history of Porisperen through the lens of photographer Tomi Palsa. Palsa has followed the festival year in year out, with only one summer missing from his collection of photographs. The moments captured by Palsa range from local stars to international names, whilst also revealing the festival’s growth story and the unique spirit of Porisperen.

All the photographs in the exhibition are for sale. Reservations and payment will begin on Wednesday 23 September, following the pre-party at Porin Päivä and Vilkuna’s festival performance, and the photographs will be on sale until 8 pm. Price: €30 per photograph. Photographs from Museokuja can be collected from Tuesday 29 September, once the exhibition has been taken down. There are also some duplicate copies on sale, which can be taken away immediately.

The bookshops at the Satakunta Museum and the Rosenlew Museum are opening on Thursday with some amazing SALE prices. The sale runs from Thursday to Sunday. So come along and snap up your favourites at unbelievably low prices.

The Satakunta Museum is open from Thursday to Sunday from 11am to 6pm, and the Rosenlew Museum from 11am to 5pm.
